Final Shots: Is Kenan Thompson About To Leave ‘SNL’?

Will Kenan Thompson stay or will he go? Well, that’s unclear at the moment. Early Monday, TMZ reported that comedian and longest-tenured Saturday Night Live castmate (he debuted in 2003) was set to leave the long running sketch comedy show at the end of its upcoming 40th season. Not so fast, though, says The Wrap. According to a spokesperson for the Lorne Michael-produced show, that couldn’t be further from the truth. “This report is incredibly inaccurate as the season hasn’t even started and cast decisions aren’t made until the end of the season,” they told the website.

  • TV critic Alessandra Stanley has apologized for her Shondra Rhimes article that was roundly criticized widely by its subject, the Internet as a whole, and her her own paper’s own public editor. According to the writer, she thought people would get what she was going for since, “I so often write arch, provocative ledes that are then undercut or mitigated by the paragraphs that follow.”  [NY Times]
  • There’s another Stephen King adaptation in the works. Hulu has okayed a series based on the author’s JFK assassination thriller, 11/22/63. Until then, here’s a guide the best of the approximately one billion King adaptations already out there. [EW]
  • On the 20th anniversary of its debut, here’s a rundown of the worst roles the cast of Friends had to deal with before landing their career defining roles on the beloved sitcom. [NY Post]
  • The Better Call Saul teasers keep trickling out. The latest 10-second clip shows everyone’s favorite sketchy lawyer stumbling his way through a court appearance back when he was known as Jimmy McGill. [YouTube]
