Always wanted to give Homeland a try? Finally have some downtime this summer to get started on The Affair? Starting today, if you have a Hulu subscription, you can add on Showtime for $8.99 per month on top of your $7.99 Hulu membership, totaling up to a modest $16.98. Like HBO Now, Showtime is testing the waters with their own standalone streaming service in addition to their new partnership with Hulu that allows cord-cutters without cable to buy a subscription.
So even if you don’t have Hulu, you can try out the Showtime app free for 30 days, then it’s $10.99 per month through your Apple TV or Roku player. Any way you slice it, especially if you’ve enjoyed Showtime series (and featured movies and sports specials) in the past, both deals don’t seem like they would break your bank. According to Showtime’s website, more device compatibility is coming soon so if you’re used to watching TV through your PlayStation or XBOX One, don’t freak just yet. The trailer below gives you a taste of what’s available through the app, and a peek at Paul Giamatti’s new series, Billions, about hedge fund scandals and financial institution corruption.[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXrzAYlFRU0]
