Final Shots: HBO’s ‘Game Of Thrones’ Was 2016’s Most-Pirated Show

Where to Stream

Game of Thrones

Considering the global popularity of HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones, it’s not surprising that it was determined to be 2016’s most-pirated show. A new report from TorrentFreak reveals that at its peak, the series was illegally downloaded and shared over 350,000 times.

Game of Thrones has achieved the honor of becoming the most-downloaded TV show through BitTorrent for the fifth consecutive year. This year, AMC’s The Walking Dead and HBO’s more recent hit Westworld followed closely behind. Although both series were also downloaded at an alarming rate, many viewers have made the switch from torrents to streaming sites over the past months which could impact the numbers going forward.
