Take A Peek Into The Deranged Mind Of Your Pooch With Cartuna’s ‘Dogs In A Park’

Dogs in a Park

Are you in need of a laugh to shake off those mid-week mental cobwebs? If so, you can take a trip to the most delightfully deranged dog park in all of New York City without stepping foot outside your cubicle with the new adult animated sketch series Dogs In A Park, which is now streaming on Watchable.

Evoking the comedic and visual styles of animated classics like Home Movies, Space Ghost, and Dr. Katz, this new short-form sketch show follows the very human, very absurd conversations between dogs at the Tompkins Square Dog Park. The chatty canines converse about everything from racism to cat calling to the trouble with not having testicles in eight four-minute episodes.

The dazzling animation is brought to life with the help of a few familiar voices. The pack of raunchy East Village pups are voiced by a kennel of comedy all stars including Jillian Bell, Michael Ian Black, Nat Faxon, and Artemis Pebdani. The venerable comedy quartet imbue all the hilarious debauchery with a fun, piercing gusto. When Decider spoke with Daniel Shepard, who created the wonderfully unpredictable animated comedy with his brother Keith Shepard, he told us the idea behind Dogs was to pair simple animation with funny dialogue and adult content.

“We were really leaning towards an almost dirty Hanna-Barbera look,” Shepard said. “Something goofy and cartoon-y but semi-realistic. As far as the show itself, we always saw it as a Robot Chicken format with a South Park tone. It’s very much a sketch show that tries to push the envelope as much as possible.”
