Get Out

Lose your blues and kick off your Friday shoes, you’ve got a whole weekend of movie-watching ahead of you! Not sure what’s out there to fill the next 48 hours of freedom? Then check out our list of new movies now available on Amazon VideoiTunes, and Vudu!

If the steamy Fifty Shades franchise is your guilty pleasure, you’ll be pleased to know that you no longer have to commit to Fifty Shades Darker for a lifetime. The international blockbuster is now available for a fling. You can also rent an all-new Jackie Chan action-comedy called Railroad Tigers, which puts Chan in the role of a freedom fighter in 1940s Asia.

What else can you buy or rent this week? Find out by taking a look at this eclectic mix of chilling horror films, epic period pieces, and dog-centric family comedies now available for you to enjoy from the comfort of your very own home!

Get Out

The less you know about Get Out before seeing it the better. Just know that it’s the feature film directorial debut of Key & Peele’s Jordan Peele—and the film features the same level of genre savviness and layered storytelling that made that Comedy Central sketch show a hit.  The critically acclaimed film (a 99% on Rotten Tomatoes, y’all!) dominated the box office, earning $174 million against its $4.5 million budget. If you’ve been eager to add Get Out to your personal library, now’s your chance. If you’re just wanting to check the film out, you’ll have to wait until it’s available to rent on May 23rd.

The Great Wall

This Matt Damon-led would-be blockbuster didn’t have an easy time at the box office. The film, a period piece set in China 1000 years ago, only earned $45 million at the domestic box office. The film was drowned in a wave of whitewashing controversy, which targeted films like The Great WallDoctor Strange and Ghost in the Shell for taking roles that could (or really should) have been played by Asian actors and casting the whitest white people in Hollywood. Still, as big of a flop as The Great Wall was stateside, it earned $170 million in China. You can now check out The Great Wall for yourself and see what all the fuss, good and bad, was about. If this sounds like a rental and not a purchase, then you’ll have to wait until May 23rd!

Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure

There are a lot more options out there this weekend than the above new releases. For just under a dollar, you can spend 90 joy-filled minutes with pop culture icon Pee-Wee Herman. Released in 1985, Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure also introduced the world to the wonderfully bizarre world of director Tim Burton and also brought Pee-Wee’s specific style of madcap humor to the masses. If you grew up on a steady diet of Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, treat yourself to Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure!
