‘Sister Act’

25 years ago today, Whoopi Goldberg donned a habit and brought the power of rock together with the power of Christ. Sister Act is a lovely, zany musical comedy loosely based on the real life story of a woman who is forced to hide out as a nun when she’s placed in the Witness Protection Program. Goldberg plays the woman in question, a lounge singer/gangster moll who witnesses a murder. At first, she struggles to make peace with her new lifestyle, but then she finds a place for herself running the choir.
